El Gobierno Municipal de Tulancingo has reaffirmed tourism as a priority area for economic development, supported by clear indicators of growth, increased visitor numbers, and a significant economic impact in the municipality. In 2025, the main tourism indicators showed a positive trend, with a notable increase in hotel occupancy reaching 66.05 percent during Easter, over 70 percent on weekdays, and up to 92 percent on weekends during the fair, as well as 78 percent during the December period. These results reflect a more dynamic and competitive tourism activity. In economic terms, the recorded economic impact amounted to 15 million pesos during Easter and 47.7 million pesos during the December holidays, with the visit of 159,000 people, figures that confirm tourism as a real driver of well-being and prosperity for Tulancingo.
To strengthen this sector, the municipal administration, through the Department of Economic Development, has prioritized the professionalization of the tourism sector through training actions, service improvements, destination consolidation, and enhancing the perception of safety. In 2025 alone, 12 courses on the Tourism Excellence Distinction were provided for service providers. In parallel, efforts are being made to consolidate strategic tourist spots and coordinate with state and federal governments to increase tourist flows and position Tulancingo as a competitive destination in 2026.
